Drunken Weasel is a new mixed team, dancing in the energetic, and wild tradition known as Border Morris. In spired by such British sides as Boggart's Breakfast and Hunter's Moon, we hope to bring this excitement to Tidewater Virginia with exurberance and flair.

What is Border Morris?Double click to edit
Border Morris, as it has come to be known, Is the style of English Morris Dance as it developed along the border with Wales in Shropshire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire. Border or bedlam morris is known for it;s exuberance, energetic though simple stepping, and by a more chaotic and rowdy nature. It uses the clashing of sticks, rather than relying on hankie waving. Many border dance sides will be noted for wearing the "rag coat", a coat or tunic covered in rags or ribbons, and by their blackened faces. For further information please see here.cl

We always welcome new dancers to come and give this a try, and perhaps to join the Drunken Weasels. No expereince is necessary, though a fondness for good beer is helpful!Musicians are also more than gladly invited. We practice in the Williamsburg area on Tuesday evenings.
